Feb 25-28: Tokyo

As I was not feeling well, I did not do much sightseeing, but still managed to fit in a couple of interesting experiences in Tokyo.

The first was the Shin-Yokohama ramen museum, where 8 of the best ramen joints in Japan are represented. The 8 represent different regions, and hence different styles, from Kyushu in the south, to Hokkaido in the north, and major points in between. After visiting the museum on my first night and having a few mini bowls of ramen (to sample the different styles), I was feeling slightly better.

The other major experience I managed to do was having Matsuzaka beef, at a reasonable price. While researching Japanese food, I came across people highly recommending Steakhouse Satou in Kichijoji for Matsuzaka beef, without paying hundreds of thousands of yen for the meal. The steakhouse was on an upper level of a butcher, has a very steep staircase, and seats about 12 people. I ordered the 180g daily premium special (5 250), which came with bean sprouts, beans, carrots and fried garlic chips, as well as rice & a choice of drink (I chose the orange juice). The beef was melt in your mouth tender, bursting with juices, and worth every yen paid.
