Feb 18: Munich
Today was a quieter day. There were 2 major sites to visit today: Allianz Arena & the Olympic precinct.
The first stop was Allianz Arena, where the local football teams play their home matches. The stadium tour that was offered was similar to the Old Trafford tour, except this tour also took us to the corporate hospitality areas as well.
After the tour, I was off to the Olympic District. This area was the focal point of the 1972 Olympics, and most of the venues were still being used. However, the first stop was the BMW experience. This was the main pick up point for new BMWs, and also contains a museum, and the main manufacturing plant. I was after a guided tour, but they were all booked out for the day. There wasn’t enough time to do the BMW museum justice, so I had a quick look around the lobby area, which had a few interactive exhibits, then continued walking around the Olympic precinct.
The venues in the precinct, while still being used by the public, were closed for repairs, so there wasn’t anything to see. However, the tower was open, so I went up and took a few photos, and called it a day.
Off to London tomorrow.
